Abstract

Steganography is an old and trustworthy method of data hiding behind digital media object like image, text, audio and video. There are different techniques of image steganography evolved in recent past. Edge detection is a method in image processing to segment the image in different areas. In this paper an innovative steganography method has been proposed which is enforcing the cover image to be pre-processed by edge detection algorithm, so the cover object is not the original image, rather it is the processed image where only edges are prominent. In this preprocessed cover image, secret message is embedded with a novel technique of multiple bits modification which is based on traditional least significant bit modification however far better in performance. In effect stego object is also in form of edge detected image. After removal of secret message, the original image can be recovered through suitable decoding algorithm.
