Abstract

Numerical investigation of flow over a cubic obstacle at high Reynold’s number i.e. Re = 1 × 104 ∼4 ×104 is computed numerically and compared with a previous experimental work. A structured hexa mesh topology has been used to mesh the three-dimensional cubic model. A suitable turbulence model; the RNG k - ε model has been used to capture the complex flow behavior around the cube and the results are compared with a previous experimental work. Some basic fluid properties; the velocity profile and the pressure distribution are presented in different locations of the cube for different Reynold’s number. The results give a good agreement with the available results for the turbulence model and a comparison study among the different Reynold’s numbers has been discussed in this study.
