Abstract

Murraya koenigii is a tree cultivated for its fragrant leaves used for culinary and medicinal purposes. Callus could be induced only from the internodes of mature plants. Morphogenetic callus was induced with BAP alone or in combination with NAA. The callus induced with BAP gave rise to bud initials which could be elongated to form shoots. The callus induced with BAP gave rise to short shoots throughout the surface of the explant. These shoots did not elongate further. BAP induced callus at the cut end of the root explants of seedlings from which only a single shoot was regenerated.
